The Perfect Day to Night Eyeshadow Look: How to Transition Your Makeup

Do you want to know how to create the perfect day to night eyeshadow look? It's actually a lot easier than you might think! In this blog post, we will show you how to transition your makeup from natural and daytime-appropriate eyeshadow looks into glamorous and party-ready eyeshadows. By following these simple tips, you'll be able to achieve an eyeshadow look that is perfect for any occasion!

Most of us have a love-hate relationship with doing our makeup. We love how we look once it's done, but the process of getting there can sometimes feel like a chore. However, there are some simple tips that can help to make the process a little bit easier - and even enjoyable! One way to take the pain out of applying makeup is to choose products that can be used for both day and night. A versatile eyeshadow palette is a great place to start.

If you're after a quick summary of how to create a perfect day-to-night look, start by applying a light, shimmery shade all over the eyelid. Then, add a slightly darker shade in the crease for definition. For nighttime, simply intensify the colors and add a touch of glitter for extra glamour, smoke out your eyeliner and add some false lashes. Finally, finish off the look with a coat of volumizing mascara. With just a few simple steps, you can create a look that is both natural and beautiful - perfect for any occasion!

For a more detailed description of each step, read on for the perfect easy to follow application process.

The Base

The first thing you need to do is choose the right eyeshadow palette. For a day to night eyeshadow look, we recommend using a natural eyeshadow palette like our Christian Faye Smokey Brown palette or our Sweet Serenity Quattro palette. These eyeshadow palettes have all of the perfect shades for creating a natural eyeshadow look that can be easily transitioned into a glamourous evening look.

Next, you'll want to apply your eyeshadow base or primer. This will help your eyeshadow last longer and prevent it from creasing throughout the day. We recommend using the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion or the NYX Professional Makeup Glitter Primer, which will not only help your eyeshadow last longer, but will also make your eyeshadows appear more vibrant.

The Day

Once you've applied your eyeshadow base, it's time to start applying your eyeshadow. For a natural eyeshadow look, we recommend using a light to medium eyeshadow shade over the entire lid, a light shimmery shade on the inner corner of your eye and a darker eyeshadow shade on the outer corner of your eye. You can then use a medium-sized dome shaped eyeshadow brush to blend the light/medium and darker shades together, taking care to make sure you do not blend the darker shade to cover more than half of your eyelid.

*Popular eyeshadow shades for easy to transition day makeup looks include, pinks, peaches, nudes and browns.

If you want to add a bit more definition to your eyeshadow look, you can use a small eyeshadow brush to apply a darker eyeshadow shade along the crease of your eye. To do this, start from the outer corner of your eye and work your way inwards. Once you've reached the inner corner of your eye, use a clean eyeshadow brush to blend out any harsh lines. Apply the same shade along the bottom lash line. Finish with a nice lash separating mascara and some on point brows and you are done!

The Night

There's something alluring and mysterious about a glamorous nighttime look. Whether you're heading out for a fun night with friends or looking to impress on a date, a little extra sparkle can go a long way. Luckily, achieving a glam nighttime look is easier than you might think.

For nighttime, we recommend intensifying the colors that you used during the day. Start by using a darker eyeshadow shade on the entire eyelid, for example, if you used peach as you light day shade then opt for a terracotta or copper as your replacement evening shade. Next, reapply your light shimmery eyeshadow shade on the inner corner of your eye and under the arch of your brow (if your chosen eyeshadow can be applied wet, this will give you maximum highlighting effect). Lastly, intensify your darkest shade at the outer corner of the eye and through your crease line. If you used a medium brown eyeshadow for your day look, opt for a chocolate or deep burgundy shade. For extra glamour, smoke out your eyeliner or maybe add a winged liner and some false lashes. Finally, finish off the look with more volumizing mascara.

*If you are on the hunt for a good eyeliner we have a few awesome recommendations. For the ultimate smudge-proof gel eyeliner try Christian Faye Dip Pomade in Charcoal. If you love a felt tip liner, try Nars Climax Liquid Liner, and if you love a pencil try Makeup For Ever Kohl Pencil, or for some extra pzaz Christian Faye Gel Eyeliner Pencil which has a fine glitter through the black and brown shades.
